From the depths of my mind

Whatever interests me at the moment, I'll post here.

Questions?

Whoops

So I didn’t exactly go back to writing after I graduated. In my defense I wanted to zonk after the intense studying and revising. Also I had to collect CAS points to actually be able to get my diploma, if I graduate. Good news is that tomorrow I am handing in my last two forms and will be all done with it. All I have to do then is wait until July 6th to get my results. Good thing about that is that I will be in Greece at the time, so if I get the right amount of points and can keep my spot at Aberdeen University or Edinburgh University, I can celebrate by drinking tons of ouzo. If I don’t get enough points, I can drink a ton of ouzo and wallow in misery.  Yay.

Exams and other joyous things

A plethora of exams suddenly appeared on my class schedule and my days have been filled with studying, revising and other interesting things. The 19th of May will be my last exam and I will graduate. Finally getting my hat. ^_^

Until then, sayonara.

When life goes great, I wonder if something is about to make it all fall apart.

Being social

It seems that time goes by slowly, nothing on my schedule except for school. Then all at once I get a plethora of social engagements. Blargh. Can’t it happen when I actually want to be social?

Reading

Reading has always been a huge part of my family and what we do. Both of my parents have an extensive personal library, but my sisters and I have together over 400 books. I read whenever I have the time. When I wake up, before I fall asleep. When I brush my teeth, when I eat my breakfast, waiting for the bus, in between classes, while the computer starts up etc.. I have done that for years now.

My mother read fairytales aloud to my sisters and me when we were very young, but as we grew older we read aloud to each other. I grew up on H. C. Andersen, Brothers Grimm and Nordic folktales. I still love fairy tales and have a small book where I have collected my favorite ones and the most interesting ones. You learn a lot about life from reading.

At this point in life, the age of 20, I have been reading for 9 years. During those nine years, I have only spend overall 6 months not reading a book every day. In 8th grade, 6 years ago now, I took a standard government test that showed how fast you read and how much of what you have read that you remember. I was measured to read 450 words per minute and I answered all questions about the text correctly and gave the best summary. I was off the chart. It is the thing I am most proud of in the world.

Favorite songs at the moment

I get bored of songs and artists pretty quickly. It’s rare that I listen to the same song or artist for more than two weeks to a month. Some songs or artists stick with me though. Anyway, when I find a song I like, I add it to a playlist I have on YouTube, where I play the songs I like at the moment. Right now this is how it looks:

  • Band Of Horses - The Funeral
  • ZZ Top - Blue Jeans Blues
  • Fol Chen - In Ruins
  • Band Of Horses - I Go To The Barn Because I Like The
  • Band Of Horses - Monsters

I almost always have music playing in the background. I can’t stand the silence, it allows too much.

Staying up is fun

I’ve never been a fan of staying up; sleep was my wonderful companion. I stayed up this night though, spending time talking with my boyfriend and it was more fun than if I’d gone to sleep. Now I just have to try and stay up, mostly to placate my father. He will be pissed that I stayed up, even though I have vacation.

Eh, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I might need a coffee IV though…
